If a person has an A0 level, it means they are a beginner who can understand and say only a few basic words or phrases, or they may not know English at all. This is considered a zero proficiency level, meaning no knowledge of the language yet.

At level A0, you will:

• Understand and use very common everyday expressions and simple phrases to meet basic needs.

• Introduce yourself and others, and ask and answer questions about personal details such as where you live, what you have, and who you know.

• Communicate in a simple way, provided that the other person speaks slowly, clearly, and is willing to help.
